One of the better kept secrets in Istanbul. We hired a local guide who took us to this spot. We would not have found it without him. Highly recommend visiting.

Only 20 TL entrance fee, this monument is an underground cistern built about 1400 years ago to store water into the city by viaduct It was discovered by accident and has now been beautifully restored. The restored cistern is wonderfully lit and a most impressive visit Thoroughly recommend a trip here and there is a pleasant cafe above

One of my favorite places in Istanbul, way more interesting than just ugly mosques. The movie Inferno always has a part recorded there. I recommend it. Just 20 TL the entrance. Not much people.

Less impressive than Basilica Cistern, at least in size, but still very beautiful and less busy. There is a 20TL entry fee.

An easily accessible place with short visiting time. We arrived early and were alone in the cistern.

When I visited it , the entrance was free , I was very moved by the photo exhibition about the refugees. It is great that everyone can come and see it. The cistern is restored and in a very good condition , they also organize concerts here - the acoustics must be amazing. Strongly recommend to visit it!

It's small cistern, smaller then main cistern opposite Hagya Sofia. But Theodosius is very preserved and picturesque!
