This museum is located near Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet Mosque in Sultanahmet Square. If you are interested in the history of the Islamic period and Turkey, you will enjoy here. It has various historic things such as Quran, carpets, calligraphy, lithographs, ceramics, glass, metal arts. Different time periods are specified in this museum separately and the objects of each period can be seen in that section. History of Turkey and ethnography is located on downstairs. If you want to see the whole museum in detail, you will need about 4 hours. Also, visiting this museum is free with \Istanbul Museum Pass\.

There isn't a ton of stuff in here but it gives you a chronological history of Islamic art through the various empires. There is also the remnants of the actual hippodrome on the first floor.

Definitely worth a visit. It opens at 10 am and we were alone at least for an hour there. Beautiful collection of Islamic calligraphy, tiles, wood carving, and rugs. And there's also an ethnographic section

This museum issue a paper for artists to send their works abroad (called \Expertiz\).. For my experience they were very helpful, I have got over seven nice staff working like a cell of bees to make my process done very smooth and shortly.. All respect to these great women working there.

Good place to understand more about Turkish culture in a broader way, specially on how this region evolves within eras and their traditions like religion, hamman, coffee house and many other aspects. Right by The Blue Mosque is a good place to have a rest and learn something during a hot day.

Quite poor collection in my opinion. Also huge part of Islamic culture, e.g. Mughal is not covered
