The church is the little building behind the school. The big building is the collage of Greek Orthodoxes. But this is a real good building, nice view, nice people around. If you will be going here by walking I recommend take a bottle of water with you because the road is too steep. By the way, the view is amazing. Just amazing.

one of the most interesting districts of Istanbul
We were lucky and the caretaker was just opening the gate and he invited us to come inside. Lovely little church, mostly restored and a few little remnants of original artwork and frescos. There is an opening in the floor down to a myriad of tunnels which originally went to the Hagia Sophia, but alas are not accessible to visitors.
A small church located near the Phanar Greek Orthodox College, in the Fener district of Istanbul
Many people mistake the church of St Mary of the Mongols (kanlı kilisesi) with the big Greek Orthodox school next door. The church is a small church with a red drum and tiled roof. The church is one of the only churches that was never taken by the ottomans. A copy of an edict by sultan Mehmet the conquer protecting the status of the church hangs in the church itself. Worth a visit.
Why isn't allowed to go inside ? I think it's a tourist attraction so it shoud be allowed for people to go inside
Couldn't enter.. Closed All people think that the college behind it it the church but the church is this little building
