My visit to the consulate was reasonably smooth, however it was not a clear process. We arrived at 9.45am on a Friday and there were 15 people gathering around on the street outside the gate. Occasionally one would be summonsed and would be allowed to enter. I approached the man in control (through the bars) and he waved me away and told me bekley - wait. So we did. Half an hour later after a few more Turks had been ushered through, I heard the word yabanci and then he ushered us through. You then made your way via a path between the buildings to a bungalow out the back with a serving window beneath a small verandah. A brief chat after we handed over the previously completed documents with passports, then he told us to go to the Ak Bank and deposit US80 each for our visa. We did this and returned and had another wait for half an hour on the street before we were waved inside and out the back. Earlier on we were told we would be able to pick up our passports with new visa later in the day(3pm), but by some luck he was able to complete it there and then so we left fulfilled. All up about 1.5 hours.
