In the lower part of this hotel that at the same time is a large carpet's store is this antique water deposit of V century a.C. The carpet store had one person manually making a carpet and according to friends this store is one of the best for quality carpets.

Hidden below is a FREE underground cistern which also tells the story of the ancient hipprodrome in Istanbul. Just ask when you walk in for the cistern and they will point you in the right direction. The government wanted to demolish it! But the shop owners restored and opened it to the public!

Our tour guide brought us to this store and initially it was a good experience. They were very accommodating and they answered all our questions. They even put me in a separate room to see the rugs better. I eventually bought a rug from them without haggling too much over the price because I was made to believe I was buying a silk rug. It was also my fault for not checking the receipt but after leaving the store, I found out what they sold me was a rug made of mercerized cotton, a material made to LOOK like silk. I learned that the amount I paid was triple the average price of the rug. They increasingly became irritable and aggressive, pushing my companions to each buy a rug from them even after they were told they weren't interested in buying. What a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE store this is. If I could give this a negative rating, I would. Do not get scammed here and better to take your money elsewhere than to spend it at this store.

Beautiful store with many options. But most importantly the store is home to an ancient cistern that you can visit freely
Great store with quality carpets and jewelry. Staff is very friendly. They often have a carpet making demonstration. They offered our kids to try doing some knots. They also have a byzantine cistern as their basement with an excellent display on Byzantium.
