Side, Gül Sk. No:64

Good for kids
Another “tourist attraction” in Side, which is worthless. Also, there is a man who exploits camels to attract tourists with rides. This should be prohibited.

Beautiful ruins.
Open air museum with some restoration but much left to explore on your own. Beautiful setting, off season when you can take your time without the hassle of would-be tour guides.
Very nice
Plenty of bits to this jigsaw still to put back together. You have to admire the work that goes on to attempt to restore these places. Plenty of walking to be done around here to take it all in. Be prepared to be hassled by old blokes who pop up out of the scrub and want to be your tour guide at each of the ruins.
You don't need much imagination in Side to see the antique city. We drove into the city during night, I was sleeping, I firstly openned eyes in Liman Street. Imagine iluminated antique street, first floor standing, all the walls, all the small craftsman houses and shops, colonnade street. I felt mad that time. It was like openning eyes in comic book from ABC, do have I travelled in time? During the day the place is not anymore so astonishing, so I suggest you do it the same way:-) At night, with no tourists, beautifully lit.
