Both, a majestic and romantic place. You may undertake long walks on the wall outside to hidden places with breathtaking views.

Entrance fee is 20TL for an adult, which is a bit pricey and not really worth it. Not much of the original buildings are left and the historical atmosphere is kind of ruined by all the wooden paths. It feels like the focus is entirely on the view which admittedly is amazing but I went there for the historical value. The walk from the cable car stop via the castle and the mosque was really nice. Unfortunately, the last part was very difficult because builders who were laying wooden paths had effectively blocked the way with tools and material and didn't seem to care to move it when they left. At least some kind of warning should be given about the condition of the way to the citadel as it is right now. Older people or people with young children will definitely struggle to go there because of the condition of the path. Very few toilets available within the area which is surprisingly bad for such a big tourist destination.
Great panorama view on Alanya and sea. If you are staying in Alanya or just passing by this is the place is worth to see.
Great views hard work in the heat so go early taxi or cable car taxi cheaper from town centre
