"AKA-SAR Search and Rescue Association was organized after the 1999 İzmit (Turkey) earthquake of 7.4 magnitude. Since then, focusing mostly on earthquakes and traffic accidents, numerous volunteers and members of the association have been trained on search and rescue operations and first aid. Today, all members and volunteers of our team are encouraged to have a first aid certificate to be officially authorized to provide help after any kind of disasters. Having members of diverse range of occupation from engineers, architects, geologist and etc. to doctors, we currently have up to date courses and trainings on disasters and rescue operations to be repeated on yearly (or half a yearly) basis."
