AVOID the sema / dervishes ceremony. It is total 3 hours - waste of time. First you meet at the tourists agency “les arts Turcs” who makes the money from your desires to see some authentic culture. Then they give one gentleman 2 minutes of “spiritual” speech in Turkish in order to make the experience “authentic” (this guy later spent the whole ceremony gazing in his cellphone bored to death). That part was absolutely absurd and should have raised a warning sign. Then you travel for 40 minutes in heavy traffic to one of the most neglected neighborhoods of Istanbul where the ceremony takes place. I have no bad words to say about the ceremony itself, but get prepared for 2 hours of very religious experience, with Muslim praying for more than 3/4 of the time, and the traditional dancing for 1/4. It is an authentic experience indeed, but it doesn’t worth your 3 hours in that remote location where you cannot leave if you decide that it is enough for you. Maybe better to have a more touristic experience in the city center for a shorter time

It was such a pleasure to attend a workshop at the Gallery Les Arts Turcs and meet the teacher Mr Fikret Guney and the office manager Mr Alp. we were cared and treated with a red carpet and Mr Fikret has toughs us so much in a what was supposed to be 2 hours workshop and in fact gotten 30 minutes more. Don't hesitate to enjoy a workshop while visiting Istanbul. They were very gracious and we will be back for more when we'll visit Turkey again in the future. If I’ve helped, thank you for the “LIKE”! Attended the Whirling Dervishes show. Service was easy and friendly. Transportation to and from monastery was provided and a light snack. This is a full religious event without interpretation from start to finish, including speech and chanting -- you observe from the side. Fascinating insight into a unique piece of Turkish culture. Explanation/history of the ceremony and the religious sect were okay but left some to be desired.

Ampiamente delusa! Non rispondono alle mail, non aprono agli orari convenuti. Abbiamo malauguratamente comprato il biglietto per lo spettacolo dei dervisci, praticamente 30 euro solo per il transfer dato che la cerimonia è gratuita come si deduce qui: Silivrikapı Mevlevihanesi : Anche qui si svolgono cerimonie religiose ogni giovedì, dalle ore 19.30 alle 23. Ingresso gratuito, la prenotazione non è possibile. Indirizzo: YENI TAVANLI ÇEŞME SOKAK NO 8, MEVLÂNAKAPI MAHALLESI, SILIVRIKAPI. Nessun tipo di spiegazione dell'evento, pickup dalla loro sede, nemmeno dagli alberghi, quindi non vedo l'utilità di spendere 30 euro per un servizio di qualità scadente. Ah, l'accompagnatore non si è nemmeno sprecato a scambiare due chiacchiere con noi: a cosa è servito? A farci salire sul bus? Mah, pienamente insoddisfatta, decisamente da evitare. Mi dispiace solo che ci sia andata perché lo consigliava la #Lonelyplanet...
